04.10.14 ~ Thursday of the Fifth Week of Lent

In Conversation with God:

As we keep him company, let us not forget that we too were protagonists in all these horrors, for Jesus bore the burden of our sins… We were freed from the hands of the devil and from eternal death at a great price, that of the Blood of Christ…

Even if you are as hard as stone, when you contemplate that He was sarcastically adorned, then ridiculed, beaten and subjected to the final agonies, you will be moved to cast all pride from your soul…

From the crucifix the saints learned how to suffer and truly love Christ…

At your side I see, yet again, that I don’t know how to suffer… I must tell you just how cowardly I am… seeing you nailed to the cross ‘suffering all that can be suffered…’

… sin cannot be regarded as just a trivial mistake. To sin is to crucify the Son of God, to tear his hands and feet with hammer blows, to make his heart break…

CCC #371

God created man and woman together and willed each for the other. the Word of God gives us to understand this through various features of the sacred text. “It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper fit for him.” None of the animals can be man’s partner. The woman God “fashions” from the man’s rib and brings to him elicits on the man’s part a cry of wonder, an exclamation of love and communion: “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.”Man discovers woman as another “I”, sharing the same humanity.

… what can wash away my sins, nothing but the Blood of Jesus…
