… It is not those who are in health that have need of the physician, it is those who are sick. I have come to call sinners, not the just.

In Conversation with God:

Jesus gets on with people of all types and characters; with a convicted thief; with innocent and simple children; with cultured and powerful men such as Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathaea; with beggars, lepers, whole families…

Jesus shows great regard for the family, in which the most important thing is to learn how to get on with other people and to practise all the virtues this demands. The family is the first and most important place for social relationships to be developed…

Unity is a characteristic mark of Christ’s Church. It forms part of her mystery. Christ founded one Church, not several... many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside its visible confines. Since these are gifts belonging to the Church of Christ, they are forces impelling towards Catholic unity. The Church has frequently been compared to Christ’s tunic which was without seamwoven from top to bottom. According to St. Augustine, the Church should not be divided because it is also without seam…

Ut omnes unum sint… Union with Christ is the cause and the condition of the unity of Christians…


… will there really be a morning, is there such a thing as day, could i see it from the mountains if i were as tall as they, has it feet like water-lilies, has it feathers like a bird, is it brought from famous countries of which i have never heard oh, some scholar, oh, some sailor, oh, some wise man from the skies, please to tell a little pilgrim where the place called morning lies…
