Mal 3:1 – 2
See where I am sending an angel of mine, to make the way ready for my coming! All at once the Lord will visit his temple; that Lord, so longed for, welcome herald of a divine covenant. Ay, says the Lord of hosts, he is coming; but who can bear the thought of that advent? Who will stand with head erect at his appearing? He will put men to a test fierce as the crucible, searching as the lye that fullers use.
All those who heard it laid it to heart; Why then, they asked, what will this boy grow to be? And indeed the hand of the Lord was with him.

Let those who use this world not fix their abode in it, for the form of this world is passing away…
Detachment which we do not find hard is not detachment…

… who is this, who lives with the lowly, sharing their sorrows, knowing their hunger, this is Christ revealed to the world in the eyes of a child, a child of the poor…
