Mary Vitamin:

But what did it avail thee, O Lady… to go to Calvary and see this son expire?

In Conversation with God:

It makes little difference… whether a bird is tied by a thin thread or by a cord. For even if tied by a thread, the bird will be prevented from taking off just as surely as if it were tied by cord – that is, it will be impeded from flight as long as it does not break the thread. Admittedly, the thread is easier to snap, but no matter how easily this may be done, the bird will not fly away before first doing so…

Bede ~ Junius 11 ~ Liber I ~ Section III ~ Genesis A

I just love reading the names He is called in this chapter… God… the Lord… Our Lord… the Lord of life… the King… Almighty God… the Lord of angels… the Warden of life… the Lord of hosts… the King of glory… Note the context, too, when He is named so, and how His name makes natural the context and vice versa.

… like ships in the night, you keep passing me by… like ships in the night, letting cannon balls fly… chasing your dreams… trying to believe in your silent own way… we’re just fumbling through the grey, trying find a heart that’s not walking away, turn the lights down low, walk these halls alone, we can feel so far from so close… and i’m gonna find my way back to your side… if it all goes crashing into the sea, if it’s just you and me trying to find the light like ships in the night, you’re passing me by… like ships in the night…
