Mary Vitamin:

She who is recognized as mother of salvation, life and grace, mother of the saved and mother of the living, is rightly proclaimed Mother of the Church.

… we see that the image of the Sorrowful Virgin, of the Mother who shares her suffering and her love, is also a true image of the Immaculate Conception. Her heart was enlarged by being and feeling together with God. In her, God’s goodness came very close to us.

In Conversation with God:

Often the act of asking is the only contact we have with some people. If we never asked for anything we would end up in a sort of vacuum in a kind of false, impoverished self-sufficiency. The most important part of our life and of our being involves our asking and our giving. When we ask for things we acknowledge that we are in need. When we give we become aware of the limitless riches God has placed in our hearts.

… if we do not receive what we ask God for, it is because we do not pray with faith, with a sufficiently pure heart, with enough trust, or because we do not persevere in prayer as we should… God has never denied and never will deny anything to those who ask for his graces in the right way…

… even when it seems that he keeps silent… Perhaps it is then that he listens to us most attentively. Perhaps he is urging us on… to make sure we have the right dispositions for the miracle to take place; so that we ask him with trust, with faith, and without becoming discouraged…

… she spins and she sways to whatever song plays without a care in the world…
… wake up to the sunlight with your windows open, don’t hold in anger or leave things unspoken, wear your red dress… and make lots of wishes… don’t spend your life looking back, turn up the music, turn it up loud, take a few chances, let it all out… don’t run from the truth ’cause you can’t get away… make peace with yourself, ’cause in the end there’s nobody else…
… i am weak, but… You are strong enough to take my dreams, come give them wings…
… it’s hard to stand on shifting sand, it’s hard to shine in the shadows of the night, you can’t be free if you don’t reach for help, and you can’t love if you don’t love yourself
… You’re restoring every heartache and failure, every broken dream… ever since the first tear cried…

ToB #53 ~ Life in the Spirit Based on True Freedom

If the whole law (the moral law of the Old Testament) is fulfilled in the commandment of charity, the dimension of the new Gospel ethos is nothing but an appeal to human freedom. It is an appeal to its fuller implementation and, in a way, to fuller “utilization” of the potential of the human spirit.

We are called to freedom, and are constantly in terrible danger of completely misinterpreting the essence of it. JPII very poignantly tries to bring us to realize the grimness of reality, that in misinterpreting and consequently misusing freedom, we  cease to be capable of that freedom for which we were set free, and we cease to be suitable for the real gift of ourselves.
