06.16.10 ~ Meaning of Man’s Original Solitude

http://www.ewtn.com/library/papaldoc/jp2tb5.htm

Right from the first moment of his existence, created man finds himself before God as if in search of his own entity. It could be said he is in search of the definition of himself. A contemporary person would say he is in search of his own “identity.” –> So our First Parents took part in that search, too. I guess I’ve always had this unconscious concept in my head that they didn’t have to do any sort of searching-for-themselves type things [before the Fall], because they lived in perfect harmony with God and all Creation.

Man is alone because he is “different” from the visible world, from the world of living beings. –> I have a hunch that people who say we evolved from apes are afraid of the fact that humans are ‘alone’ in their difference, by our very nature.
